The Floppy Disk is Dying

Do you remember the floppy disk? Well I think the new generations don't even know what a Floppy disk Is, just as I was telling my 13 year old son yesterday about the Audio Cassettes, and he just put that awkward face that says " What are you talking about " that's when I realized I am old, well that is the same situation with the floppy disks, they where the only way to transfer a file from one pc to another, even to install Windows 95 or 98 at their early years you needed a floppy to get it running, windows 95 was compiled in about 30 floppy disks that you have to change one by one in every installation and took about 4 hours to install, Games use to come in Floppy Disks some times in 5 1/4 Floppies, I remember playing my new G.I. Joe Game on my Commodore 64, I inserted the Disk, Load it and went to have lunch then I returned and I was ready to play ( It took about 30 minutes to load ) and now we complain when our PC doesn't start in less than 45 seconds; Well this is the end of an … [Read more...]

Princess, nurse, doctor, athletic, supermodel… How many carriers does Barbie has? 125 just to give you an exact number, and finally for Barbie’s 126 carrier  the toy maker MATTEL gave the honors to their audience during The International Toy Fair in New York on February 12 announcing the winner… Geek Barbie ( Yeah .. the computer engineer Barbie ) The doll’s look had some cool eyeglasses, a laptop, headphones, and a cell phone and the best a cool T-Shirt with binary code on it. So as a HeadlessGeek , this is a dream come true ( NOT THAT I LIKE PLAYING WITH DOLLS ) but I will finally will  enjoy buying my daughters some Barbie dolls, ( You know they have to follow the family business ) and I don´t want them be be a Doctor or go to LawSchool, I just want them be be Geek. Biz Stone is the co founder of twitter, one of many networks that are changing the way the world communicates. Christopher Isaac Stone, Biz Stone born on march 10, 1974 in Boston and grew up in Wellesley, Massachusetts.  If you are wondering about his pseudonym BIZ , well here is the short story: He said in an interview that Biz was short for his own ineptitude. He couldn't say his full name, which is Christopher Isaac Stone, so he said Bizaber instead of Christopher when he was very young. So his parentes and friends start calling him Biz because of that. He tried to tell people his name but they wouldn't have it.
