So we talked about how Google changed their url where PageRank was queried from systems, causing every PageRank add-on and plugin to crash and return a 0 PR o N/A.
So there is an easy fix for this, you just have to change the url the your current add-on is using with the new one, here is a quick fix on how to tweak the SEO Status PageRank/Alexa Toolbar 1.5.7 from Ruby Web for Firefox, which gets you the current PageRank of a Webpage and the current Alexa Rank.
This Fix is for this particular add-on from Firefox but the same steps can be used on any other plugin, you just have to find the script that checks the page rank and change the url that is currently calling for the new one.
I am assuming that you already have install the add-on on your computer , if you haven’t done it yet , go ahead an download it and installing first, then come back to the tutorial.
Open Firefox
In the Menu go to > Help > Troubleshooting Information
Click on > Open Containing Folder button ( This will open your current directory where Firefox is install, we will do this for us to look for the add-on file to change )
Click in > extensions Folder to open it
Find Your Plugin Folder > seostatus@rubyweb then click on it for it to open
Find and open the folder > chrome ( even though it is installed on Firefox, it uses the folder chrome , don’t get confuse by the name )
Find and open the folder > content
Find the script that returns the page rank > gprAlg
Rigth Click on the File and open it with your favorite code editor, I use PSPAD , but you can also use Notepad++
Find line 236 or do a lookup for http://toolbarqueries.google.com/ there you will see the old Google Page Rank URL, Which you are going to change
Now you just have to change the word search for tbr which is the new directory that Google is using for Page Rank
Now save the file
Restart Firefox
Go to the Menu at > Tools > Add-ons
At first you will see the add-on Disable, so click on the Tools Button on the side of the Search all add-ons bar then click on Check for updates so Firefox acknowledges your changes
Restart your Browser and Voila , your Page Rank is Back
UPDATE

You’re Welcome Christian, let me know how it goes

Hi Randall, I am sorry to hear that , but there is not fix on the about:config, Here is the full path to the file, you can browse to it on your computer and change the files: C:\Users\YOUR-USER-GOES-HERE\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\YOUR-PROFILE-GOES-HERE\extensions\seostatus@rubyweb\chrome\content
Hello I use SearchStatus | Firefox SEO Toolbar Extension. Current version is not working with PageRank. I have updated the code of version 1.37 and now it is working for me. If there is someone who wants the updated version, I can share it, untill Quirk releases an update.
Hi Dimitris, please go ahead and share your fix with US
Hello jadah, I have posted a link for the updated file of SearchStatus | Firefox SEO Toolbar Extension at the facebook wall of the SearchStatus group.

Thanks Dimitris, for the update on SearchStatus ADD-ON for Firefox, direct download : http://www.mediafire.com/?2phuztz9j0p0zi8
Hey I just tried this and now it tells me the toolbar is disabled, I have no option to re-enable it. Did I miss something? It says it’s incompatible with my version of FF, which is 7.0.1, but it was on there before I did this tweak.
Hi Bethany, click on the Tools Button on the side of the ” Search all add-ons ” bar then click on Check for updates so Firefox acknowledges your changes, after Firefox checks it, you will have to restart again, and the plugin will start working. Check Out this Image so you can see what button I am talking about, is the one that ive circled at the top of the image. http://bloggermind.net/bm/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/image6.png
Let me know how it goes
That’s what I did initially, just tried to update again, restarted and it is still disabled. It didn’t disable it until I restarted the first time. Do you have a download where I can manually reinstall the plugin?
Hi Bethany , the Add-on is ready for you to download at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/seo-status-pagerankalexa-toolb/versions/ Is under version 1.5.8 , you can easily click the “add to Firefox” button, to install it automatically.
Thanks a lot jadah, but i dont use windows, i use ubuntu, how can i find that path
I found a workaround for SEOQuake, but I need to fix SEO for firefox because what I need is to see the pr on google search results
Dont Worry Randall, you can install the Add-on directly from the Mozilla Repository at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/seo-status-pagerankalexa-toolb/versions/ Is under version 1.5.8 , you can easily click the “add to Firefox” button, to install it automatically.
Jadah – worked great, thank you so much! I like this toolbar the best so I was missing it!
Quality! I wish I had come across this fix before I installed 4 or 5 different page rank firefox plugins that still diddn’t work. I know why now! Pesky google changing url’s. Many thanks
thanks so much Jadah, it works well, it’s not the best pagerank tool, but I will use it for now till SEO for Firefox is updated!
just to let you know that SEO for Firefox and Search Status are already updated!
Fantastic, you saved the day! Thanks!
