Ok so you have heard of Open Source, and for those who haven’t, here is the definition that the “ Open Source Initiative” gives us: Open source is a development method for software that harnesses the power of distributed peer review and transparency of process. The promise of open source is better quality, higher reliability, more flexibility, lower cost, and an end to predatory vendor lock-in. The Open Source Initiative (OSI) is a non-profit corporation formed to educate about and advocate for the benefits of open source and to build bridges among different constituencies in the open-source community. Some consider open source a philosophy, others consider it a pragmatic methodology. Princess, nurse, doctor, athletic, supermodel… How many carriers does Barbie has? 125 just to give you an exact number, and finally for Barbie’s 126 carrier  the toy maker MATTEL gave the honors to their audience during The International Toy Fair in New York on February 12 announcing the winner… Geek Barbie ( Yeah .. the computer engineer Barbie ) The doll’s look had some cool eyeglasses, a laptop, headphones, and a cell phone and the best a cool T-Shirt with binary code on it. So as a HeadlessGeek , this is a dream come true ( NOT THAT I LIKE PLAYING WITH DOLLS ) but I will finally will  enjoy buying my daughters some Barbie dolls, ( You know they have to follow the family business ) and I don´t want them be be a Doctor or go to LawSchool, I just want them be be Geek. Biz Stone is the co founder of twitter, one of many networks that are changing the way the world communicates. Christopher Isaac Stone, Biz Stone born on march 10, 1974 in Boston and grew up in Wellesley, Massachusetts.  If you are wondering about his pseudonym BIZ , well here is the short story: He said in an interview that Biz was short for his own ineptitude. He couldn't say his full name, which is Christopher Isaac Stone, so he said Bizaber instead of Christopher when he was very young. So his parentes and friends start calling him Biz because of that. He tried to tell people his name but they wouldn't have it. They insisted on calling him Biz Stone ( Which is a great name by the way ), so he began using it on the web, blogging and when he started writing books He used it as his name. Matthew Charles Mullenweg, was born on January 11, 1984 in Houston, Texas. He did his schooling in Houston. Mullenweg graduated from the high school for the performing and visual arts in 2002. In June 2002 he joined the University of Houston. He started using b2cafelog blogging software to complement the pictures he was taking on a trip to Washington DC, after some time b2 stopped working. Sergey Mikhailovich Brin who’s net worth is US$17.5 billion and is the world's 24th richest person is the cofounder and president at Google Inc. He is a native of Moscow, Russia and educated in America. His family emigrated to USA when he was 17. He received his Bachelor of Science degree with honors in mathematics and computer science from university of Maryland, college park in 1993. Brin began his graduate study in computer science at Stanford University. He met Larry Page at Stanford and worked on a project that began Google. Together they founded Google inc. in 1998. What is the relation between Servers, the OLPC initiative, and films (like Titanic) ? The answer is Linux: an operative system based, like all operating systems, in a kernel. Yes! Even Microsoft admitted that 60% of their web servers run over Linux, instead of Windows Server. And over 95% desktop and server computers in the film industry run over Linux, too. It's worth noting, however, than even though the Linux (GNU/Linux) operating system is largely based on community-contributed software, the most important and central part of the system was an idea developed by one single person. Imagine Santa Claus as young. Imagine he's a free software radical. Even more, imagine he founded the Free Software Foundation. You're seeing Richard Stallman in your mind :-P . The source of wisdom and inspiration for many programmers around the globe, Richard is well-known for criticizing the use of “Linux” for talking about the full, Linux-based Operative System “GNU-Linux”. Stallman was born in 1953 in New York City, and got a BA in Physics from Harvard, in 1974. He enrolled at MIT and became an usual in the MIT's AI Lab. In the late 70's and early 80's, closed-source proprietary software became more common. Actually, an incident with a printer (Stallman was denied access to the driver source code: he tried to modify it in order to send messages to users when the printer finished a job or was unavailable) triggered him to become a Free Software activist. Is great to hear that 64-year-old Helen Mirren is known to tweet, people in the Oscar spotlight are using their online presences to communicate  without their publicists telling them what to say. Thank God for this Information Age enabled mass communication via people's smart phones. That said, the nominees have yet to use Twitter to Oscar voters on the lobby or virally change their chances of winning an Academy Award.
