Turning yourself into a Remote Control
Lost your Remote Control¡ Don’t worry, you can always use your hand.. Skinput turns your skin into a touch screen.
We are so close to live the lives of WALL-E ( The Disney Movie ) Humans, just thrown away in our chairs with our brand new implanted chip in our brain to move around life with just a thought, I don’t know about you but I love the way my keyboard sounds as I type every key, But lets take a look at this new technology, which was created by Desney Tan and Dan Morris from Microsoft research and Harrison from Carnegie Mellon University, The name: skinput which uses body acoustics to turn your skin into an interactive touch screen. The unusual interface is a Bluetooth enabled device that allows you to use the surface of your skin to control your gadgets.
The device works via an armband which contains a small projector that beams the relevant interface onto your hand or forearm. Skinput uses a series of sensors to track where a user taps on his arm. Tapping on different parts of your arm produce different vibrations depending on the amount and shape of bones and muscles in that specific area. Skinput sensors can track those vibrations where the user has tapped.
When coupled with a small projector the skinput can produce a menu like the ones that is used in other kinds of electronics. Tapping on different areas of the hand and forearm allows the user to scroll through the menus and select options.
Skinput can also be used without a visual interface. For example the mp3 player does not need a visual interface the usual commands of play, next or previous track, pause, stop and changing the volume. Different areas of hand or arm can be used for these common commands and the user can tap them without even needing to look.
This interactive touch screen technology has high potential as it lets the users to play with their skin. The developers claim that the armband is a crude prototype; the next generation would be made more compact and easily fitting. It is the start of the new touch screen technology. I think It would be a great Idea if the researchers focus this product in ways of helping people that are Physically impaired using their body acoustics and movements to control electronic appliances, computers, gadgets, and more. Wouldn’t it be great?

Ok, that skin stuff is cool. a bit out there and well kinda hard to see that stuff take off. Reminds me of a low budget film dungeon master or something, the guy had a watch all the way down his arm and it had lazers and stuff.
Ok maybe not the same but freaky to see it finally getting there. Kinda
